Overview
John Stivarius is a trial attorney with more than 40 years of experience handling all levels of litigation and jury trials in both state and federal courts. He joined Poole Huffman in January 2026. Throughout his career, he has served as lead counsel in complex matters involving exposures exceeding $200 million, including legal malpractice, wrongful death, toxic chemical exposure, and business and commercial litigation.
John Stivarius has successfully appeared before the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as the appellate courts of the Eleventh, Third, Fifth, and Tenth Circuits and the State of Georgia. His career has been defined by achieving successful resolutions for clients, with a focus on helping individuals and businesses return to stability, regain peace of mind, and operate free from the burdens of litigation.
Service and understanding the clients’ goals is tantamount to successfully representing his clients. John also routinely provides employment-related advice, counsels clients on severance and transitional matters, and advises on insurance-related issues. He previously served as claims counsel for a major insurance carrier. His ideal client is one that is engaged in the process, makes informed decisions and seeks to effectuate the goal.
